Welcome to Primary Anatomy
Whether you are preparing to sit the GSSE
or your specialty exams this is the site for you. Primary Anatomy is not just another generic anatomical website. Our content is tailored specifically to prepare you to pass your surgical exams.
Our questions have been carefully developed from the core curriculum and prescribed reading list to ensure your familiarity with the content required for the Australian and New Zealand surgical exams. We have created a vast bank of multiple-choice questions covering all core anatomical regions and all three question types (A, B and X).
Our trial exams and statistical feedback have been designed to help candidates prepare for the GSSE - closely modelled on the RACS exam outline with the same time frame, format and distribution of questions.

Advice to GSSE Candidates
We would strongly advise working
systematically through the core curriculum to gain a comprehensive grasp of the
material in Last’s Anatomy and Rohen’s Atlas. Ensure you are dedicating ample
time to the anatomical regions of highest yield — a breakdown of the anatomical
component of the exam, with the number of questions from each anatomical region
can be found here. Use the study mode to self-assess and reinforce
your learnt anatomical knowledge. Take frequent mock exams to familiarise
yourself with the time frame and format. Be guided by your statistical feedback
which will highlight areas of weakness, allowing you to focus your study and
tailor your revision.
Only exam results are used to generate your statistical feedback on the progress page. We would strongly suggest sitting mock exams in a similar manner as you would the actual GSSE, so that your feedback is an honest reflection of your progress and current level of knowledge.
Fortnightly Quiz
The fortnightly quiz follows a structured timetable which can be found in the calendar. Following our schedule is a great way to ensure that you have covered all the required anatomical content for the GSSE, working through each anatomical region per fortnight with a corresponding quiz to assess your progress. After completing the 16-week schedule a final quiz will be run covering all anatomical regions. The member with the highest score each fortnight will be displayed on our home page to add a fun competitive edge to keep you motivated! Work your way through the corresponding flash card set, self-assess with our question bank, then sit the fortnightly quiz!
